McDonald Creek on the relatively flat road that will soon ramp up into the Going-to-the-Sun Road. This picture was taken a short distance away from the West Glacier Lodge. In the summer of 2003, a year after we rode through here, the entire area was shut down and evacuated as forest fires threatened the Lodge. Glacier National Park Day 2

Lying the base of the eastern approach to Logan pass, that bit of land in the midst of the lake is called Goose Island. I'm told it's the most photographed island in the world. Glacier National Park Day 2
The road to Many Glacier Lodge. I'm amazed this picture came out because I was bonking when I took it. The nutrition article on the main CycleRoad Blog talks about how this bonk came about. Glacier National Park Day 2

Chief Mountain in Northern Montana. Laura has written about the legend of the Mountain in the Day 3 text. It has an undeniable majesty. Unfortunately none of the pictures we took of it came out very well. Glacier National Park Day 3
The Canadian Rockies a short distance over the Montana border. The sun came out just as we crossed the border into Canada after we spent most of the morning riding in a cold rain. Beautiful views like this helped to cheer us up. Glacier National Park Day 3
Here we are by the side of the road in a Canadian valley. Glacier National Park Day 4
Looked to me like they put up a special sign bcause they knew Laura was going to be there. Glacier National Park Day 4
Laura caught me after a "natural break" on our way to East Glacier Lodge. Glacier National Park Day 4
A gentle incline to the Continental Divide. The gradient was easy, the headwind wasn't. Glacier National Park Day 6

The group we rode with on the Glacier National Park tour. Laura and I are 4th and 5th from the right in the back row. Hand-cycle Dave is standing on Laura's left. Dave's legs are paralyzed. Incredibly, he did this tour on a hand cycle. You can read more about him in Laura's Day 2 text.
