Climbing out of a deep fold in the earth on Bear Branch Road through a cathedral of trees. One of our favorite segments of the ride that has a steep descent and a good climb on a freshly paved road with virtually no traffic. A split rail fence and barn on Old Washington Road. Another one of our favorite segments of the ride. There is a long descent through the woods over a rough road that comes out in this quiet, lovely valley. The climb back out is not easy but the scenery is so nice on the climb that it doesn't matter. Salem Bottom Road. Laura is standing at the intersection on the left side of the picture. As I was riding through that intersection after I took the photo some jackass in a car came up behind me, sped up and tried to make a right hand turn in front of me. Almost ran me over. Didn't work, he had to wait until we both cleared the intersection.
