Brighton Dam 80

Approximately 80 miles with lots and lots of climbing. This is a terrific ride that includes many challenging climbs and thrilling descents along with varied and beautiful scenery. With the exception of a few short stretches on high traffic routes, the roads are low traffic and in fairly good repair (as of summer 2003). Crossing numbered highways can be a problem (meaning you will probably have to get off your bike and wait for an opening). Note that there are only two rest stops, one at about 23 miles and one at about 70 miles. Camelbacks are highly recommended especially on hot days. The ride begins and ends at Brighton Dam which can be reached by following New Hampshire Avenue north until you reach Brighton Dam Road. Turn right and the parking lot/start point will be on your right just before you go over the dam. As soon as you cross the dam the climbs begin and they don’t quit until you’re back at your car. This is not a ride for beginners.
